Vaccine czar and National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 chief implementer Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. on Wednesday (Oct. 6) announced the different phases for the government’s pediatric vaccination rollout.

The pediatric vaccination will focus on 12 to 17-year-old children with comorbidities.

Phase 1 will begin on Oct. 15 where vaccination will start in eight different hospitals:

National Children’s Hospital (Quezon City)
Philippine Heart Center (Quezon City)
Pasig City Children’s Hospital (Pasig)
Fe Del Mundo Medical Center (Quezon City
Philippine General Hospital (Manila)
Makati Medical Center (Makati)
St. Luke’s Medical Center (Taguig)
Philippine Children’s Medical Center (Quezon City)

“Sa Phase 1,…ito po iyong pilot testing. Dadahan-dahanin muna natin sa ating mga ospital,” Galvez said.

“Iyong Phase 2, iyong all LGUs in NCR, magkakaroon ng mini rollout. Third phase will be Oct. 29. Pwede na pong i-vaccinate iyong buong NCR at saka iyong other areas nearby na mayroon na pong 50% at least ‘yung A2 vaccinated ‘yung mga seniors,” he added.

The second phase, which will begin on Oct. 22 will roll out to 17 LGUs or all the LGUs in Manila.

Each LGU will select at least one hospital to serve as a pilot vaccination site.

On Nov. 5, the rest of the regions may rollout vaccines to the children once they reach the threshold of 50% A2 having been vaccinated.

“Ito po ang mga regions na mataas na po ang vaccination in terms of ‘yung vaccinations sa A2. So, ito pong mga region po na ito puwede po tayong magkaroon din ng tinatawag nating mini rollout: ‘yung CAR, Region I, Region II, Region III, Region IV-A, Region VIII, at saka Region X, at saka ‘yung CARAGA,” Galvez said. – bny
