Ceremonial turnover of PH 2050 Innovation Foresight, one of the slated activities for science week

There will be a turnover ceremony of the “PAGTANAW 2050: The Philippine Foresight on Science Technology, and Innovation,” on 22 November 2021 at 1:00 – 3:00 PM via Zoom, the first day of the week-long celebration of the 2021 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW).

PAGTANAW 2050 is the first DOST funded inter-disciplinal and trans-disciplinal project on Philippine-focused science, technology, and innovation (STI) Foresight and Strategic Plan, which suggests significant drivers of change and provides insights and reflections on plausible STI development paths that will impact on the aspirations of the Filipino people by 2050.

The strategic plan is firmly grounded on a shared vision of a united, inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable maritime archipelagic nation that is the Philippines.

The turnover ceremony, which is expected to be graced by some of the country’s notable academicians, scientists, and possibly some of the invited cabinet members, is just one among the activities in this year’s National Science and Technology Week, which will be held virtually once again, and will run from November 22 up to 28.

This year’s celebration carries the theme, “Agham at Teknolohiya: Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon”. The celebration will highlight all the research and development (R&D) outputs as well as innovative products and services developed and offered by DOST agencies and regional offices that aim to help address the challenges brought about by the pandemic and climate change, among other societal concerns confronting the Filipino people.

The seven-day S&T virtual festivity will also feature lectures, seminars, and discussions related to agriculture, health and nutrition, disaster preparedness and management, science education, enterprise development, emerging technologies, publishing research journals, and state-of-the-art laboratories, among others.

For more information and updates regarding the 2021 NSTW virtual celebration, please visit www.nstw.dost.gov.ph and its official Facebook page or send your inquiries to the 2021 NSTW Secretariat at [email protected] and [email protected].

PAGTANAW 2050 is a project spearheaded by the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), an attached agency to the Department of Science and Technology, mandated by law (Executive Order 818 s.1982) to serve as adviser to the President of the Republic of the Philippines and the cabinet on policies concerning science and technology in the country.
