Lacson questions alleged harassment of cops to supporters

Presidential aspirant Panfilo Lacson questioned the alleged harassment of his and Senate President Vicente Sotto III supporters by Manila Police District (MPD) personnel.

Senator Lacson said they received information that law enforcers in Manila are ordering tricycle drivers and supporters to remove the Sotto-Lacson masks.

“Bakit pinatanggal sa Manila ang face masks? The members of the Manila Police District are harassing tricycle drivers and people wearing giveaway face masks. May mali ba roon?” he asked.

“I know the directive did not come from Crame. Walang directive. Bakit sa Manila lang?” he added.

Lacson is joining the presidential race under Partido Reporma, with Sotto as his running mate under the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).

Sotto said they will submit news reports of the alleged harassment to heads of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

“Sariling katawan ng tao ‘yan. When you put up streamers on private property, it’s not a violation. What more if a person is wearing a face mask?” Lacson said. – Report from Eunice Samonte/AG-rir
