Pfizer and Janssen vaccines arrive in PH

Two planes carrying two brands of COVID-19 vaccines landed consequently at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 last night (Dec. 13).

A total of 859,950 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines purchased by the government were the first ones delivered.

Most of it will be allocated for pediatric vaccination in line with the implementation of limited face-to-face classes.

For the U.S. Embassy, it is important that the Philippines get vaccines from various sources including the American manufacturers to fight against COVID-19.

The next batch that arrived was the 1,526,400 doses of Janssen vaccines donated by the Netherlands through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) facility.

This is the largest vaccine donation of any other country to the Philippines and is expected to be distributed to remote areas.

According to the Dutch Embassy, it is pleased to help the country’s vaccination drive through the Janssen vaccine donations.

The Dutch Embassy said that for every vaccine used in the Netherlands, one vaccine will be provided abroad.

In total, over 157 million doses of vaccines have arrived in the country.

Meanwhile, the National Task Force continues to encourage the public to participate in the coming second round of Bayanihan Bakunahan, especially now that the supply of vaccines in the country is stable. – Report from Bernard Jaudian/PG – bny
