MANILA – Scattered rains and thunderstorms will continue to prevail over the Visayas and Mindanao on New Year’s Eve due to the shear line, the weather bureau said on Friday (Dec. 31).
Flash floods or landslides remain likely during scattered light to moderate, to at times heavy rains, added the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The northeast monsoon affecting Luzon will cause light rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol region, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon.
Likewise, it will bring isolated light rains over the rest of the island.
Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over Luzon, the Visayas, and the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao.
Strong to gale-force winds will be experienced over the northern and eastern seaboards of northern Luzon, eastern seaboards of central and southern Luzon, western and northern seaboards of northern Luzon, western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, the seaboards of the Visayas, and the northern, western, and eastern seaboards of Mindanao.
Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea. Larger sea vessels are also alerted against big waves.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) – bny
