MANILA – Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region due to the trough of low-pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Jan. 23.

In its latest weather bulletin, the weather bureau said an LPA was spotted at 965 kilometers east of Mindanao at 3:00 a.m. Sunday based on all available data.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to northeast monsoon or “amihan.”

Meantime, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

The PAGASA warned residents in affected areas against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds moving northeast to the north with moderate to rough coastal waters will be experienced in the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao

Moderate winds from east to the southeast with moderate coastal waters will blow over Northern and Central Luzon.

The rest of the country will also experience light to moderate winds moving northeast with slight to moderate coastal waters.
