The Department of Health on Monday (Jan. 24) reported 24,938 new cases, raising the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,442,056.

There are 35,461 new recoveries and 47 deaths, bringing the active case count to 262,99.

Earlier, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the lowering of the National Capital Region to Alert Level 2 still depends on the metrics and whether those will point to a moderate-risk level.

Dapat ito ay one to seven cases average per 100,000 population,” Duque said.

“Pangatlo, iyong ating healthcare utilization rate na dapat ay mapanatili na asa low-risk classification, meaning less than 50% or 49% and below ang total bed utilization and ICU [intensive care unit] utilization rates,” he said.

He said Metro Manila will be ready in case the alert level is de-escalated to Alert Level 2 next month.

-ag
