HK Consul General: Employers firing COVID-19 positive employees will be liable

Employers who dismiss overseas Filipino workers who test positive for COVID-19 will be held liable, the Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong, Raly Tejada, said on Sunday (Feb. 20).

This was after there was a spike in cases in Hong Kong.

According to Tejada, those employers attempting to terminate contracts with their Filipino employees because they tested positive for COVID-19 will be blacklisted.

Around 10 Filipinos have been rescued after being dismissed by their employers for testing positive for COVID-19. – With reports from Cleizl Pardilla/PG – bny
