4 cities in Luzon now very low risk, health care utilization rate down

By Pearl Gumapos

The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday (March 8) said the metrics used in identifying the risk classification of four cities in Luzon, namely Angeles, Lucena, Dagupan, and Olongapo, involve the health care utilization rate as well as the average daily attack rate (ADAR).

“Ang ginagamit natin na metrics dito ay iyong ADAR. Ang baba ng kanilang [growth] rate. Ito iyong measure ng growth ng epidemic growth ng virus. Naka-negative na po siya,” DOH Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“Ang pinakaimportante dito ay iyong health care utilization rate. Nasa 19% na po ang utilization. Ito ay very low risk. Kaya masasabi natin na na-contain or manageable na iyong virus,” he said.

Meanwhile, when asked if Vega agrees with OCTA Research Group when it said that the worst is over, he said the COVID-19 cases were really decreasing.

“For now, kapag titignan mo talaga, bumababa na. Ang talagang tinitignan natin na talagang handa tayo. Nagkaroon tayo ng very flexible plan kung tataas man ang kaso dito sa Manila o ibang probinsiya,” he said.

“Kailangan mayroon tayong flexible plan na ayusin kaagad ang isolation, detection, and treatment facilities,” he added. – ag
