Over 86-k families affected, 3 reported dead due to Agaton

At least 86,515 families or 136,390 individuals in eight regions have been affected by Tropical Depression Agaton as of Monday morning (April 11), according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Based on the latest NDRRMC figures, three individuals have been reported dead, two were injured, and one is missing. A total of 4,528 were preemptively evacuated from Regions 7, 8, and Caraga, and 15,326 were reportedly displaced.

Around 224 areas in Regions 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, and Caraga were flooded and 13 landslide incidents were recorded, affecting 67 road sections, and four bridge sections.

As for infrastructure damages, 49 houses were partially destroyed and three were completely shattered. The damage to agriculture covering 251.5 hectares of crops was estimated at P874,000.

The NDRRMC said 38 seaports have been affected with 2,362 passengers, 1,180 rolling cargoes, and six vessels stranded.

Meanwhile, 78 towns have declared class suspension and 56 towns have suspended work. Power issues have affected 15 cities and municipalities with a restoration rate of 27%.

 

Agaton update

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Agaton has made landfall over Basey, Samar as of 5:00 p.m. and may remain as a tropical depression.

It is also “forecast to slowly loop in the vicinity of the northeastern portion of Leyte and the southern portions of Samar and Eastern Samar before emerging over the Philippine Sea” by Tuesday evening.

PAGASA said it may further weaken by Wednesday.

  • Southern Leyte
  • Northeastern portion of Cebu (Daanbantayan, San Remigio, Medellin, City of Bogo, Tabogon, Borbon, Sogod, Catmon, Carmen, Danao City, Compostela, Liloan) including Camotes Island
  • Eastern portion of Bohol (Getafe, Talibon, Bien Unido, Trinidad, Ubay, San Miguel, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia, Mabini)
  • Surigao del Norte
  • Dinagat Islands
