Phivolcs refutes rumored 7.2 quake in Mindanao

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) refuted a Facebook post claiming a 7.2-magnitude earthquake may hit Mindanao soon.

In a Facebook post, Phivolcs urged the public to refrain from sharing the post.

The said post also claimed that the quake may also trigger a tsunami “that could reach a 15-storey building.”

Phivolcs stressed there is no technology invented to predict when and where the earthquake can occur.

—GC / gb
