Island holiday event returns as ‘Love Boracay’

After nearly two years since COVID-19 hit the country, the Boracay Inter-Agency Task Force (BIATF) relaunched the island’s holiday attraction “La Boracay” now known as “Love Boracay.”

With the theme “Boracay better than ever” following its rehabilitation before the pandemic, the island celebration opened its doors to families aside from the traditional conduct of parties for Boracay’s biggest event.

“With all the infrastructures, interventions that we have, environmental projects, our rules and regulations in the island, Boracay is in the best condition that it is right now,” BIATF General Manager Despi said.

As part of the celebration, a clean up drive was also carried out Friday morning at Bulabog Beach where bokashi balls were installed to filter the water in Balabag Wetland Park.

The BIATF assured tourists that the traditional event has become better than before with a live band, music show, and the Pintalayag Festival to experience.

According to Malay Mayor Floribar Bautista, Boracay’s economy has been recovering.

Bautista also hoped that more tourists would visit the island while ensuring compliance to the government-mandated carrying capacity.

Recently, the Department of the Interior and Local Government warned Boracay’s local government units as the island exceeded the tourist limit during the Holy Week. – Report from Cleizl Padilla/VC-ag
