After powerlifting and banking, Filipino-Australian powerlifter Gawain Johnstone has officially tried his hand at acting.

In an exclusive interview with PTV Digital, the Fil-Aussie powerlifter shared how he worked in a bank during the pandemic and decided to eventually put up his own finance company.

Other than that, the man considered one of the strongest Filipinos of all time got his chance to try acting.

Johnstone shared how he was invited to appear on the eighth episode of the second season of “Young Rock,” an American TV sitcom based on the life of professional wrestler and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

“I was tagged in Instagram to the audition post by my mates to make fun of me, so I ended up sending the audition tapes and I didn’t hear for a quite while,” he said, recalling how he got in the show.

“I completely forgot about it and someone sent me an email that I got accepted to the next round, eventually I got a call from the casting director that I got the role,” he said.

The episode titled “Corpus Christi” was aired last May 3 where Johnstone played the role of World Wrestling Federation (WWF) superstar Mantaur.

The episode showed The Rock wrestling his first match as well as his first encounters with other members in the locker room for the WWF, now known better as the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

For Johnstone, his appearance was memorable considering he was also a die-hard WWE fan.

At present, Johnstone is looking forward to doing other roles in the entertainment industry. On the possibility of being offered a role in the Philippines, he said he will not hesitate to accept it.

“It’s an amazing experience with amazing people, I’m trying to find a right agency or talent manager and take my toes into some film and TV, particularly in Manila,” he said.

Meanwhile, Johnstone shared that he is still into powerlifting and that it’s just a matter of time management and sacrifice to put all the things together.

“Sacrifice little things, I’m lucky that with technology I can remotely work,” he ended. – ag
