LPA to bring rain showers over Visayas, Mindanao

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

The low pressure area (LPA) last spotted east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur will bring rains over the Visayas and Mindanao, the weather bureau said Monday, May 30.

“The LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. However, it will cause cloudy skies and scattered rains over the Visayas and Mindanao,” Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

He advised residents of those areas not to forget their umbrellas and to take precautions against possible flooding and landslides.

Up to 32 °C temperature is forecast in Zamboanga and Davao; up to 31 °C in Cebu, Iloilo, Tacloban.

Aurelio said the southwest monsoon is affecting the western part of Luzon.

“Despite this, Luzon will have fair weather. Cloudy skies with high chances of rains or thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon or evening,” he said.

Up to 35 °C temperature is expected in Tuguegarao; up to 33 °C in Metro Manila and Legazpi. Moderate winds and moderate seas will prevail over the western section of Luzon and the Visayas.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. – gb
