Taguig residents urged to join bike challenge

Taguig City Mayor Lino Cayetano urged residents on Sunday, June 5, to participate and finish the 25-kilometer Taguig Bicycle Loop Challenge.

The bike challenge was a part of the city’s celebration of World Bicycle Day.

“Through the said challenge, participants will be able to share their bike stories and experiences while they tour the bike loops and lanes throughout the city,” Cayetano said.

“Taguig’s Main Biking Loop is about 25-kilometer (km) long, starting from Taguig City Hall and stretching from BGC in Barangay Fort Bonifacio up to Barangay Upper Bicutan.”

Cayetano said the local government created “mini loops for novice bikers,” including: Arca to Lakeshore mini loop (8.68 km), FTI to Bicutan mini loop (7.67 km), Fort Bonifacio mini loop (6.75 km), and the Cayetano to Venice mini loop (9.53 km).

“Taguig has around 60 km of established bike lanes on Cayetano Blvd, Bayani Road, and C-6 Road, among others,” Cayetano added.

Taguig’s World Bicycle Day event will wrap up with Safe Streets Taguig on June 5 under the city’s Bike-Friendly Taguig ordinance, where a designated street will be closed for a day to motor vehicles to create “a safe place” for all bikers. –KC/gb
