Taal, Kanlaon volcanoes alert levels remain

By Katrina Gracia Consebido

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday, June 7, that Alert Level 1 still prevails over Taal Volcano and Alert Level 2 is still raised over Kanlaon Volcano.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) lowered Taal Volcano to Alert Level 2 in March as unrest declined.

Meanwhile, Phivolcs placed Mount Kanlaon under Alert Level 1 in January due to its increased volcanic activity.

Mount Bulusan in Sorsogon, which had a phreatic eruption Sunday morning, June 5, is currently under Alert Level 1, indicating low unrest. – gb
