Concepcion: Private sector has discretion on work from home setup

By Myris Lee

Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion said private companies have the discretion on implementing work from home arrangements for their employees in case COVID-19 cases will continue to rise.

In the June 17 Laging Handa briefing, Concepcion shared that they physically report to work from Monday to Thursday and at home every Friday.

The official said work from home schemes cannot be implemented for those who are working in manufacturing plants, essential services, and for those handling physical goods.

“Well, iyong private sector, dapat siguro they should make the call ‘no, whether they allow some work-from-home,” he said, noting that the continuous oil price hike decreases mobility.

He added that the purchasing power and consumer demand for goods will be greatly affected if fuel and consumer products prices keep on rising.

“May ilan diyan dahil masyadong mataas iyong presyo ng gasolina kaya medyo bumaba iyong mobility natin sa mga kotse, halos walang trapik ‘no. Pero iyon ang sinasabi ko na malaking problema na papunta sa atin ay itong rise in prices,” he said.  – ag
