Traditional jeepney minimum fare raised to P11

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved the petition of jeepney drivers for another fare hike by setting the minimum fare to P11 nationwide starting July 1.

The decision followed the two-hour meeting on June 28 to discuss the petition of jeepney drivers to increase jeepney fares due to successive oil price hikes.

The LTFRB released its seven-page resolution on June 29, extending the previous P1 provisional increase in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Region 4 to all regions nationwide.

It also granted another P1 provisional increase in jeepney fare across the regions, raising the minimum fare to P11 for traditional jeepneys and to P13 for modern jeepneys.  There will be no increases of rate or revisions of the fare matrix in public utility vehicles.  – Report from Karen Villanda–ag
