Tulfo denies giving relief assistance using Angat Buhay

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo said Sunday, July 11, that they are not giving away food packs and other relief assistance through the non-government organization (NGO) Angat Buhay of former Vice President Leni Robredo.

Tulfo clarified through a statement that DSWD is not giving away such assistance through NGOs, saying that it is against the law.

“Hindi po namimigay ng mga food packs at iba pang relief items ang DSWD sa mga NGO para ipamigay sa mga tao dahil ito po ay labag sa batas,” he said.

He said the local government of Ifugao might have combined the relief items of DSWD with Angat Buhay’s items in a warehouse. This was captured in a photograph posted by a publishing company.

Tulfo said they are coordinating with respective local government units when distributing relief goods.

Meanwhile, the DSWD assured it will continue to distribute relief items to all families and individuals affected by flash floods in Ifugao. – ag
