Father of Ateneo shooting suspect killed

The father of Chao Tiao Yumol, the suspect in the shooting incident in a university in Quezon City earlier this week has been shot dead, the Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed Friday morning, July 29.

PNP Public Information Office chief BGen. Roderick Alba said that the PNP in Lamitan City is conducting an investigation on the case.

“So far, it is speculative to assume its direct relation to the shooting incident that happened last Sunday at the Ateneo de Manila University,” he said.

On Sunday, July 24, three persons were killed and two others were injured in a shooting incident during the graduation ceremony of the Ateneo Law School.

Among those killed were former Lamitan City Mayor Rosita Furigay, one campus security guard, and Furigay’s personal security guard. – With reports from Patrick de Jesus-ag-ngs
