OCTA: 20 provinces log ‘very high’ COVID-19 positivity rate

Twenty provinces have logged “very high” positivity rates in the past week, OCTA Research Group reported Monday, Aug. 8.

OCTA Research Fellow Dr. Guido David said 15 provinces in Luzon, namely Albay, Benguet, Cagayan, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Isabela, La Union, Laguna, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Quezon, Tarlac, and Zambales had above 20% positivity rate.

Rizal, meanwhile, registered 18.8% positivity rate.

Five provinces outside Luzon also recorded “high positivity” rates: Aklan, Bohol, Capiz, Negros Oriental, and Palawan.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila’s positivity rate climbed to 17.5% from 15.5% on July 30. – ngs
