Filipino food tortang talong is among the “best egg dishes in the world,” according to food website Taste Atlas.
The local egg dish received a near perfect rating of 4.7, besting Iran’s kuku sabzi and Mexico’s huevos divorciados.
Taste Atlas described the dish as a “versatile delicacy” that is “easily adopted with additional ingredients such as ground meat and vegetables.”
“Inexpensive and quickly prepared, tortang talong can be enjoyed at any time of day as a hearty breakfast, lunch, or dinner,” the magazine’s description read.
Ranked “great” were America’s egg benedict, Spain’s tortilla de patata, and Japan’s omurice.
Meanwhile, Italy’s quiche, China’s century egg, and Italy’s fritata all received “ok” rating.
Famed Filipino street food balut was ranked the “worst” egg dish, alongside Scotland’s scotch eggs and Germany’s eierbal. – ngs
