Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez signed on Tuesday, Aug. 23, Proclamation No. 42, declaring the regular and special non-working holidays for 2023.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. declared the following regular holidays: Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day), April 6 (Maundy Thursday), April 7 (Good Friday), April 9 (Araw ng Kagitingan), May 1 (Labor Day), June 12 (Independence Day), Aug. 28 (National Heroes Day), Nov. 30 (Bonifacio Day), Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), and Dec. 30 (Rizal Day).
Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha were declared as national holidays after the approximate Islamic holidays are determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar.
Meanwhile, Feb. 25 (EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary), April 8 (Black Saturday), Aug. 21 (Ninoy Aquino Day), Nov. 1 (All Saints’ Day), and Dec. 8,
(Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary) were declared special non-working holidays.
All Souls’ Day (Nov. 2) and the Last Day of the Year (Dec. 31), which former President Rodrigo Duterte declared special working days, were now declared special non-working days. –ag
