Coca-Cola production affected by sugar shortage

By Katrina Gracia Consebido

Coca-Cola Beverage Philippines, Inc. announced Wednesday, Aug. 24, that the operations of some of its bottling plants have been halted due to scarcity in sugar supply.

“CCBPI confirms that the supply shortage of Bottler’s Grade sugar has affected the capability of some of our bottling plants to continue producing some products,” it said in a statement.

The beverage company said that it is “doing everything” they can to lessen supply disruption.

It added that it is continuously coordinating with the national government and other sugar industry stakeholders to address the demand in the market and help small retailers that are relying on them for their livelihood.

“We are also continuing to work with the government and the broader sugar industry sector to arrive at a sustainable solution for the benefit of the small retailers who also rely on product’s availability for their livelihoods,” it stated.

Meanwhile, Coca-Cola expressed gratitude to all consumers for their loyalty and patience as they prepare to bring “full line-up” of their beverages in the market.  –ag
