Monsoon break brings respite from rain; fair weather seen Sunday

Most parts of the country will experience fair and warm weather due to a “monsoon break,” or a break in rainfall events, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday, Aug. 28.

The southwest monsoon or habagat, however, is expected to prevail again towards the end of August due to low pressure area (LPA) that may form east of extreme Northern Luzon outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), Benison Estareja of PAGASA said.

He said there is also a possibility that the LPA may develop into a tropical cyclone once it enters PAR within three days.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in the next 24 hours due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and localized thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters will prevail throughout the country.

The temperature will range from 25.4 °C to 32.2 °C. – gb
