SSS delays release of benefits, pensions after main office fire

By Gabriela Baron

The Social Security System (SSS) announced there will be a delay in the release of benefits and pensions following the recent fire that razed its main office in Quezon City.

In an advisory, SSS advised its members, pensioners, and the general public there will be a delay in crediting of benefit proceeds and pensions for those processed from Aug. 25 onwards.

“This is due to a fire that broke out at the UPS Room located at the ground floor of the SSS Building in Quezon City last August 28, 2022,” the state-run insurer said.

“While all member records are intact, connectivity between SSS servers and partner banks was affected.”

SSS asked members and pensioners for patience and understanding and assured that “all concerted efforts are being made” to restore crediting operations back to normal.

Meanwhile, SSS said the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), which serves as the disbursement facility to pensioner accounts successfully processed the crediting of the first batch of pensions for September.

“DBP expects to credit these to the pensioners’ accounts from 4:00 p.m. onwards on September 16, 2022.” –ag
