‘Neneng’ agri, infra damages balloon to 447-M

The damages to agriculture and infrastructure brought about by Typhoon Neneng has ballooned to more than P447 million, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

In its latest situation report, the Department of Agriculture has recorded a total worth of P366,058,240.16 in damages and production loss in the agriculture sector.

This covers the damages sustained in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) valued at P3,921,190.00, Region 1 at P7,687,525.38, and Region 2 at P354,449,524.78.

Around 19,167.29 hectares of crops with 14,578 farmers and fisherfolk were affected by the typhoon. The impact to livestock, poultry, and fisheries has topped P1,840,790.00.

The damage to infrastructure has reached P81,555,000.00, according to the NDRRMC. 

Infrastructure damages in Region 1 was estimated at P49,800,000.00, Region 2  at P9,100,000.000, and CAR at P22,655,000.00.

At least 166 houses were partially or completely destroyed, while 34 public infrastructures were damaged.

Meanwhile, 50,248 families were affected, with 3,759 that have been preemptively evacuated.

A total of 1,689 displaced persons were evacuated in 12 evacuation centers.

No fatalities and missing individuals have been recorded, but two individuals were injured during the typhoon.

Neneng entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Oct.12, and exited the PAR at 8:00 p.m. on Oct.16. -ag
