Centino back as AFP chief

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reappointed on Friday, Jan. 6, Gen. Andres Centino as chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin led the passing of the command symbol to Centino.

Centino already served as the AFP chief of staff from November 2021 to August 2022.

Under his leadership, the AFP achieves four major goals: Operational efficiency, optimal resource use, advancement of professionalism, and meritocracy within the organization, and capability development.

Centino also served as the commanding general of the Philippine Army from May to December 2021.

He was also the Commander of the 4th Infantry Division, deputy chief of staff for Operations and Commander of the 401st Infantry Brigade.

Meanwhile, Centino expressed gratitude for his reappointment.

“I would like to extend my gratitude for the following for ensuring the smooth transition of command, under your direction,” Centino said.

Centino replaced Lieutenant General Bartolome Vicente Bacarro. –PTV News/KC – gb
