Meralco power rate up January

Consumers will have to face another hike in electric charges following Meralco’s announcement to raise power rates this January.

In an advisory, Meralco said its overall power rate went up by P0.62 per kilowatt hour this month.

This is an equivalent to an increase of P125 for residential consumption of 200 kilowatt hours.

Meralco said this is brought about by rising generation charges and the completion of the refund orders mandated by the Energy Regulatory Commission. With a report from Naomi Tiburcio-ag
