68 passengers, crew rescued from distressed motor launch in Basilan

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Southwestern Mindanao rescued 68 passengers and crew from a distressed motor launch in Panducan Point, Basilan.

ML Sulna, which was carrying the passengers and crew, had engine trouble while they were on their way to Taganak, Tawi-Tawi from Zamboanga City.

The PCG conducted search and rescue (SAR) operations with MCS-3007, a Coast Guard-manned Bureay of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources vessel, and Coast Guard Station Zamboanga.

The SAR team towed ML Sulna to Zamboanga City Port after ensuring that all 57 passengers and 11 crew members were in good physical condition. – gb
