The Quezon City Government will launch the country’s first Market One-Stop-Shop (MOSS) for vendors at the Murphy Market in Cubao.

According to Mayor Joy Belmonte, Project MOSS aims to cover the digital and simplified process of market registration and permit applications for QCitizen market owners, vendors, and stall owners in public markets.

“Inconvenience and inefficiency caused by the traditional manual market management system affects the productivity of market vendors,” Belmonte said.

“Thus, the city has initiated MOSS which digitalizes all these processes, shortens waiting time, and eliminates the hassle of going physically to City Hall,” she added.

The MOSS system is integrated with the city’s e-services portal which vendors and operators can access soon to apply or view market stalls available as well as renew various permits and pay the associated cost online.

Belmonte said the new system also aims to address corruption and the “palakasan” system.

“Sa pamamagitan ng MOSS, para ka lang nag-rereserve ng ticket sa sinehan kung gusto mong magka-pwesto sa palengke o temporary vending site,” she added.

Belmonte said the city targets to register a total of 12,000 stall holders within the eight city-owned public markets, 32 private markets, 124 approved temporary vending sites for hawkers, and 46 talipapa (small wet markets). – gb
