Ride-hailing company Grab Philippines is set to operate in Iloilo City after having been granted a transportation network vehicle service (TNVS) franchise from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

“The clamor of the public of being a highly urbanized city [is that] they are looking for Grab. Bacolod is the first city in Region 6 that has Grab,” LTFRB Regional Director Richard Osmeña said.

According to the LTFRB, the franchise grant is in fulfillment of Grab Philippines’ investment pledge to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

“Marami pong challenges, and we work on that everyday. We [are] really working [with] the LGU to get the slots of Grab car services, also the legalization of two-wheel motorcycle taxi, because that’s part of the commitment. [We are] working [with the] local government on how to launch our services [at] the right time, in the right method,” Grab PH Country Head Grace Vera Cruz said. – KC/Report from Karen Villanda/cf
