NLEX to offer free towing from April 5–11

The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will provide free towing services from April 5 to 11 in anticipation of the influx of motorists during Holy Week.

NLEX Senior Traffic Manager Robin Ignacio said they expect the peak influx of motorists in the afternoon of Holy Wednesday, April 5, until morning of Maundy Thursday, April 6, and on April 10 afternoon until April 11 morning.

With this, Ignacio said NLEX is ready to respond to any untoward incident that may happen especially during the Holy Week.

“‘Yung sa nabanggit ko na pag-clear ng incidents, kami po ay mag-iimplement ng free towing mula Miyerkoles ng 6:00 a.m. hanggang Martes the following week ng 6:00 a.m.,” Ignacio said.

He added that over a thousand personnel will be employed to accommodate the expected influx of motorists during the Holy Week, including patrols, toll tellers, traffic marshals, and security officers.

Ignacio stressed that construction and repair works will resume on April 12 onwards to avoid high traffic volume, while counterflow lanes may be placed should the need arise.

NLEX Management said the 350,000 daily average number of vehicles traversing through NLEX is expected to increase by 10% to 15% during the Holy Week. – CF/with report from Gillian Geronimo-ag
