The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reminded departing travelers to check-in at least three hours before their scheduled flight to avoid delays.

Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco requested the passengers to check-in early and immediately proceed to the immigration for inspection.

“There is an expected increase in the number of passengers this month, as more and more people are traveling post-COVID,” said Tansingco.

“Apart from this, the eventual transfer of passengers from NAIA Terminal 2 to other terminals will definitely add to the bulk of travelers,” he added.

Tansingco stressed that they are continuously hiring new personnel, as each immigration officer currently processes about 247 passengers on a 10-hour shift.

He also noted that current facilities in the Philippine airports are more limited compared to other countries. – gb
