A total of 28 volcanic quakes, including seven volcanic tremors of two-minute long, were logged in Taal Volcano in the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Tuesday, June 13.
Sulfur dioxide emissions averaged at 5,024 tonnes per day on June 12 with plumes 900 meters tall were also seen.
Entry into Taal Volcano Island, especially the main crater and Daang Kastila fissures is prohibited.
Occupancy and boating on Taal Lake is also not allowed.
Meanwhile, the public was also warned of possible hazards, including steam-driven, phreatic, or gas-driven explosions, volcanic quakes, minor ashfall, and expulsions of volcanic gas.
Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 1 or “low-level unrest.”
