A total of 38 volcanic quakes, including two volcanic tremors of two minutes long, were logged in Taal Volcano in the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Wednesday, June 14.

Sulfur dioxide averaged at 5,024 tonnes per day on June 12, with plumes reaching 1,200 meters tall.

Phivolcs also warned the public against entry into Taal Volcano Island, especially in the main crater and Daan Kastila fissures.

Occupancy and boating on Taal Lake is also prohibited.

Steam-driven, phreatic, or gas-driven explosions, volcanic quakes, minor ashfall, and expulsions of gas are possible.

Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 1 or “low-level unrest.”
