The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) warned the public on Tuesday, June 20, against an unauthorized “booking services fee” in the Port of Matnog in Sorsogon.

Passengers boarding buses were illegally charged P20 each in exchange for a service that involved purchasing a passenger terminal fee ticket at the local government unit (LGU) regulatory fee at a one-stop-shop located outside the port.

To address this issue, the Provincial Council of Sorsogon passed a resolution encouraging the LGU of Matnog to stop collecting fees from passengers.

The Provincial Government of Sorsogon also posted signage along the highway to warn passengers. – gb
