A huge part of Luzon will experience rain showers caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat on Thursday, June 29, according to the weather bureau.

In its 4:00 a.m. weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the habagat will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Pangasinan.

Moderate to at times heavy rains may result in flash floods or landslides in these areas.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms while severe thunderstorms may also cause flash floods or landslides.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will continue to prevail across the archipelago, PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said no tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) until the weekend.

Estareja, however, noted that three tropical cyclones are expected to enter the PAR in July.

He also said a cloud cluster was seen east of the Visayas.

“This may slowly head to Southern Luzon, but it has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.”
