The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) said Tuesday, July 4, that it is deliberating the film “Barbie” which reportedly featured the nine-dash line of China.

In a statement, the MTRCB said it had already reviewed the film last July 4.

“At this time, the assigned Committee on First Review is deliberating on the request of Warner Brothers F.E. Inc. for a Permit to Exhibit,” it stated, adding that a copy of its decision will be uploaded on its website.

As of July 6, a copy of the decision has yet to be released.

“Barbie” will premiere in Los Angeles on July 9 and is scheduled for showing in different countries this July.

The film recently became a hot topic on social media for featuring China’s nine-dash line, prompting Vietnam to ban it.

Several Philippine senators also issued separate statements criticizing the film. –ag
