More Filipinos experienced hunger in June 2023, a poll conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) found.

The SWS survey conducted from June 28 to July 1 found that 10.4% of Filipino families experienced involuntary hunger or being hungry and not having anything to eat at least once in the past three months.

The figure was higher than the 9.8% in March 23, but lower than the 11.8% in December 2022.

SWS said the experience of hunger was highest in Metro Manila at 15.7%, followed by Balance Luzon at 11.3%, Visayas at 9.3%, and Mindanao at 6.3%.

Meanwhile, the same survey also found that 45% of Filipino families rated themselves “mahirap” or poor.
