President Vo Van Thoung of Vietnam commended President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for his “remarkable leadership” and economic performance, saying that his administration has brought “breakthroughs” for the Philippines, Malacañang said Wednesday.

The Vietnamese leader made the statement during his meeting with President Marcos as part of the latter’s two-day state visit to Vietnam, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said.

“I would like to congratulate the Philippines on remarkable socio-economic, foreign policies, security and defense achievement under your able leadership. Since you assumed the presidency with a lot of breakthroughs such as for economic development,” President Thoung said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Marcos’ economic strategy and leadership style should also be emulated by Vietnamese leaders.

“I truly appreciate the role of Mr. President in promoting and creating traditions for businesses from the Philippines to grow and making contributions to the socio-economic development of the Philippines,” Prime Minister Chinh told Marcos in a meeting.

National Assembly Chair Vuong Dinh Hue echoed Thoung and Chinh’s remarks as he noted “significant changes” in the Philippine economy under the Marcos administration despite global challenges in the world market.

President Marcos arrived home on Wednesday morning from his foreign visit to Vietnam which, he said, aimed to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. – avds
