LEGAZPI CITY — Tropical storm “Urduja” left the Bicol peninsula with four people dead and one missing, the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) said on Tuesday.
Claudio Yucot, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) regional director and RDRRMC chairperson, said that as of the latest report, four people died from drowning, landslide, electrocution, and being hit by fallen tree.
He said three of the fatalities were from Masbate and one was from Camarines Norte.
The victims were identified as Ginalyn B. Alicante, 42, of Palanas town, Broderick C. Piadopo, 24, also of Palanas and Joana A. Lasala, 25, from Masbate City, all in Masbate province; and Conchita Nequita, 58, of Labo, Camarines Norte.
Still missing is Sheryl Mirasol of Libmanan, Camarines Sur. There was no report, however, as to the circumstances behind her going missing.
Meanwhile, flooding in various parts of Masbate and Camarines provinces had subsided, Yucot said.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said all major highways going to and from Metro Manila are now passable to both heavy and light vehicles.
Also, flights from Manila to Legazpi and vice versa resumed on Tuesday.
Likewise, classes in private and public elementary and high schools in all six provinces in Bicol have resumed. (PNA)
