LTFRB announces opening of special permit applications for PUVs

By Dean Aubrey Caratiquet

TheĀ  Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairperson Teofilo Guadiz III announced that the agency will start accepting applications for special permits of public utility vehicles (PUVs). This is in preparation for the expected influx of commuters during the Christmas season within and outside Metro Manila.

Chairperson Guadiz said that the application for special permits will be opened on December 15. Said permits will be valid from December 20, 2024 to January 4, 2025.

“Like the usual practice, we are opening slots for special permits to ensure that there are ample PUVs that would cater to our riding public during the holidays,” the LTFRB chairperson said.

The LTFRB chief also mentioned the approval of 5,000 additional slots for Transport Network Vehicle Services (TNVS).

Meanwhile, Chairperson Guadiz urged commuters to plan their travels ahead and to remain vigilant to ensure a safe and smooth journey.

ā€œPlease patronize legitimate public transportation, follow safety protocols, and report any overcharging, overloading, or other violations through our official hotlines and channels,ā€ the LTFRB head explains.

He said the LTFRB is working closely with operators and enforcers to manage the expected increase in passengers during the holidays.Ā
