In a statement on Wednesday, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque reminded consumers to prioritize safety this holiday season by purchasing certified Christmas lights and fireworks.

“To ensure a safe and worry-free holiday celebration, we strongly encourage consumers to be vigilant and check the DTI’s official list of certified products before making any purchase. Avoid uncertified products that pose safety hazards,” said DTI Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque.

The DTI-Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS) has published the list of certified Christmas lights and fireworks products on its website. This publicly accessible list includes the names of manufacturers, importers, and descriptions of the products.

“Mandatory marks such as the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) Stickers and Philippine Standards (PS) Marks signify that Christmas lights and fireworks have undergone rigorous testing and meet the required quality and safety standards. This aligns with our goal to ensure a safe Christmas under Bagong Pilipinas,” Roque explained.

The trade chief also reaffirmed the DTI’s commitment to ensuring consumer safety by including Christmas lights and firecrackers into its roster of 109 products and systems that are subject to mandatory certification under the BPS.
