‘Vinta’ maintains strength; expected to exit PAR Sunday

MANILA — Typhoon “Vinta” has maintained its strength as it nears its exit out of the country, state weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday morning.

PAGASA said “Vinta” is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday.

In its latest weather bulletin, the center of the typhoon was last located at 300 kilometers south-southeast of Pagasa Island, Palawan.

“Vinta” packs maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center, and gustiness of up to 145 km/h, moving west at 25 km/h.

Tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1 has been hoisted over southern Palawan.

Cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Palawan, while sea travel remains risky over its western seaboards.

Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the easterlies, while the northeast monsoon will cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera and Ilocos.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds will prevail over Luzon. Its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
