Sinag Liga Asya (SLA) proudly announces its official partnership with PTV Sports Network, marking a major milestone in advancing grassroots sports development across the Philippines and beyond.

The collaboration was formally sealed during a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), held in the presence of key officials from both organizations. Leading the event was Atty. Robert O. Doller, Network General Manager of PTV, along with Mr. Ray Alao, President of SINAG-Liga Asya, and Mr. Rocky Chan, SINAG-Liga Asya chairperson.

Also present were Atty. Pamela Parce, PTV Head of Legal and Overseer, Sales & Marketing, and a delegation of SLA and PTV Sports Network executives and partners. SLA’s delegation was led by COO Leo Isaac, along with key officials and staff as well as our PTV Sports Network partners.

“This partnership provides us a true home and broadcast partner that shares our vision for inclusive, nationwide sports development. We’re now able to bring our programs to a wider audience, particularly as we prepare for the SLA Junior World Showcase Mindanao Cup this July,” Mr. Chan said.

Championing sports among Filipino youth

The Mindanao Cup, scheduled for July 5–11, 2025 in Cagayan de Oro City, will feature 36 teams across Under-13, U-15, U-17, U-19, and U-21 divisions, including teams from the United States, Canada, the UAE, and various regions in the Philippines. Supported by the City Government of Cagayan de Oro, the event is expected to be a week-long celebration of international youth basketball.

Atty. Parce also confirmed that the MOA covers all SLA-sanctioned events, including SLA Lakas 40, SLA Junior Philippines, the Interagency Secretaries’ Cup, and upcoming collegiate and regional tournaments.

The agreement is valid for one year, subject to renewal based on mutual performance and satisfaction. While many games will be taped-as-live for broadcast, airing schedules will be finalized depending on tournament times and PTV’s programming slots.

In his remarks, Atty. Doller highlighted the government’s vision to promote character-building, competition, and discipline among youth through sports. He emphasized that the partnership must strictly avoid becoming a platform for structured betting, stating: “Gaming is different from gambling. We support grassroots development, but we will not allow this program’s data to be used for large-scale gambling. A signed undertaking will ensure such activities have no place in this initiative.”

Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to ethical sports programming that reaches underserved communities and promotes national unity through athletics. (PR)
