A record 66,669,287 passengers rode the EDSA Busway in 2025, a sizable increase in ridership compared to 2024, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

In a statement on Monday, the DOTr said the record number of passengers was made possible through President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s order to continue improvements along the EDSA Busway corridor to “guarantee commuters with safer, more accessible and convenient travel experience.”

The new ridership record is a 5.89 percent increase from 2024’s annual ridership of 63,022,953 passengers.

In December 2025, the EDSA Busway saw a record monthly ridership of 6,530,415, while the single-day peak of 321,186 was recorded in April 2025.

Acting DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the agency will continue the modernization of the EDSA Busway for the benefit of commuters.

“Marami pa tayong improvements na gagawin, tulad na lang ng mas modernong Kamuning Busway station, at tatlo pang bagong istasyon ng busway ngayong 2026,” Lopez said.

To date, the EDSA Busway has served a cumulative total of 341,307,843 passengers since June 2020. (PNA)
