“Nakakatuwang makita na full blast tayo sa education sector.”
Reinforcing the administration’s focus on the education sector, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the NCR Brigada Eskuwela 2026 kick-off at Kapitbahayan Elementary School in Navotas City on Tuesday.
Accompanied by Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Francis Tolentino, the President inspected the school’s various facilities and personally assessed the preparations being done to ensure that learners are greeted with a clean, organized, and learning-conducive environment.
This, on top of the earlier integration of TUPAD workers into the annual program that prepares classrooms to ensure that these facilities are ready to complement the teachers’ lesson plans in ensuring that students gain access to knowledge that they can utilize for the rest of their lives.
President Marcos Jr. went on to observe an ongoing ‘Tara, Basa!’ session composed of Grade 2 learners, and lead an interactive storytelling session with selected Grade 1 learners.
In a media statement, the President shared some of the activities that he participated in, which involved the installation of 16 closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras within the campus, cleaning of school grounds, repair of some classroom furniture, and repainting of classroom walls.
He also featured the creation of reading nooks in classrooms, which he touts as a miniature version of the library hub that serves as a repository of books for teachers. These shelves contained the reading materials used by the President in teaching young children how to read.
The Chief Executive underscored the importance of looking after the welfare of educators and learners, “Alam naman natin ang pinakamahalaga para sa ating kinabukasan ay ang pagtuturo at pagtraining sa ating mga kabataan—hindi natin pinag-uusapan ang college, hindi natin pinag-uusapan ang high school.
Kailangan magsimula sa Grade 1 pa lang, kindergarten pa lang, kailangang mag umpisa na ang magandang pagtuturo kaya natin ginawa lahat ito.”
