Nueva Ecija checkpoints net 300 ‘unregistered’ motorcycles

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — More than 300 undocumented motorcycle units were impounded in the initial 48-hour anti-criminality checkpoints laid in all strategic points in Nueva Ecija’s 27 towns and five cities.

Senior Superintendent Eliseo Tanding, director of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO), on Friday said the conduct of simultaneous checkpoints aims to curb crimes being perpetrated by motorcycle-riding suspects.

Tanding presented to the public the impounded motorcycles at the Provincial Mobile Force Company headquarters here.

The provincial police chief vowed to keep order in every checkpoint.

“We have the established rules in conducting checkpoints. If we violate the rules, you can file charges against us,” Tanding said.

In the same breath, he appealed to the people to cooperate with the police. “We are here to serve and to protect the people mandated to do so,” he said.

Owners of the impounded units can make the claim by presenting proper documents, the police official said.

He said cooperation between the police and the people will make Nueva Ecija a peaceful place.

“Do not let our place be like Marawi,” Tanding said as he urged Novo Ecijanos to be vigilant against criminals so that lawlessness would not escalate. (Marilyn Galang/PNA)
