Over 300 jobs await Cebu students this summer

CEBU CITY — More than 300 slots are now open for students in Cebu Province who want to avail of the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).

Julius Chua of the Cebu provincial government’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) said they now accept SPES applications for 2018.

He added that the deadline for the submission of applications would be on March 12, while work would tentatively start April 1.

The program is mandated under Republic Act No. 7323, otherwise known as “An Act to help poor but deserving students pursue their education by encouraging their employment during summer and Christmas vacation.”

The SPES is aimed to maximize the PESO program of the Department of Labor and Employment and is in line with the agenda on education and educational training of Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III. (PNA)
